Juve still in the tittle fight after 2-0 win over Bologna

Juventus moved past Bologna in a game of the 19th round of Serie A with a comfortable 2-0 win. Arthur scored the first goal in the 15th minute after a ricochet in the body of Jerdy Schouten from Bologna and in the 71st minute Weston McKennie was accurate for 2-0 with a header after a cross from a corner.

Juve did not miss the chance to get closer to the leaders in the standings AC Milan and Inter, who on Saturday lost points in the fight for the Scudetto. The Old lady climbed from sixth to fifth place in the standings with 36 points and is now 7 points from the top, with a game less than all four teams, ahead. Juventus grabbed the Italian Super Cup a few days ago and with today’s success send a very successful week. Bologna remains in 13th place with 20 points.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Dejan Kulusevskiwere in the forefront of the attack for Juve in 4-4-2 formation, and Musa Barrow was leading Bologna’s attack in a 4-2-3-1. Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was injured in the first minute of the match, but continued.

In the 5th minute Juan Cuadrado fell in the penalty area after contact with Emanuel Vignato, but a penalty was not awarded and the situation was not examined in more detail with VAR. In the 15th minute there was quite dangerous situation for the hosts stirring in front of Wojciech Szczesny, but no goal was scored. Seconds later, the Old Lady came out ahead in the score. This happened a little by accident. Arthur tried a long-range shot that didn’t look particularly dangerous. However, the ball bounced off the body of Jerdy Schuten and ended up behind the helpless keeper Lukasz Skorupski. The goal was recorded in Arthur’s name.

There were tense moments in front of Juventus in the final minutes of the first half, after Roberto Soriano’s shot went dangerously close to the goal. Immediately after that referee Saki consulted with VAR for a possible penalty for Bologna due to suspicions of a violation against Riccardo Orsolini. The judgment was that there was no foul.

In the first minutes of the second half, in the 48th minute, Quadrado almost scored a killer own goal. After a cross from the right, the Colombian played as a striker for Bologna and headed the ball powerfully towards his own goal. Fortunately for him, Szczesny showed a fantastic reflex and managed to punch the ball in for a corner kick. Seconds later, the Polish goalkeeper of Juventus had to intervene again, this time after the shot by Orsolini.

Gradually, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s players began to look less creative in attack and Juventus waited their moment. In the 71st minute after a cross from a corner kick by Quadrado, the American talent Weston McKennie towered over everyone and headed the ball in the lower left corner of Skorupski for 2-0.

In the 74th minute, another strong intervention of Skorupski in the match prevented McKennie from scoring another goal. In the 82nd minute Cristiano Ronaldo also failed to overcome the keeper of the guests.

The last interesting moment in the match was a stir in front of the door of Juventus, which did not lead to a goal and the players of Andrea Pirlo recorded a victory with a clean sheet, showing that they have no intention to give up the fight for the title.
